Highways England have been working with the Transport Research Laboratory to produce a virtual reality smart phone app to develop awareness of the risks of HGV blind spots for drivers and help car drivers stay safe around HGVs. Something that is even more relevant now that learner drivers can receive tuition from their driving instructor about how to drive on the motorway.
Safety card
To compliment the app, a blind spot safety card has been developed for drivers, learners and instructors to use to help them to see where the dangers are when driving around large vehicles.
